Short post today - about some relevant content discovered in a quick search on pets and pet products. Do you ever do that? Go to Google, or Yahoo! or whichever search engine you like, and look for news on pets and pet products? Especially locally?
Well, I didn't do a local search...I was just curious to see how many actual news sites carry information on our furry friends. The answer is: a lot of them. I was really astonished to see how mainstream media is tuned in to our pets and our love for our pets.
Here's a report out of the UK, about "Blood Hounds"... now, it isn't what you think. Read on:
"Hundreds of sick dogs will be saved thanks to a Pet Blood Bank being launched this month," reporter Adrian Troughton wrote. The "new service will allow [vets] to access samples around the clock." The idea being to get "blood hounds" to donate blood, the way the Red Cross gets people to do it.
Good idea, yes? This article in USA Today shows that it's happening here in the U.S., too. They even have a GREAT video on their Bloodmobile program. Kewl!
Any vets have thoughts on whether this is a good idea or not? After all, dogs must have blood types just like people... at least I would think so.
I'll have to ask Dr. Larry...
