Scratchings wanted me to tell you a Carmel story.
Okay... Carmel has tolerated the 3 kitties who are staying in our basement for a whole week, and she hasn't chased them once! Of course, only one of them is brave enough to even come within chasing distance...so that may have something to do with it.
But, beyond them (they go home today - and I was just getting them to venture upstairs during the daylight!) there's the 'walk' thing with Carmel. Scratchings understands. Walks are vital to a dog's health and welfare. Carmel, being a big dog, likes to have a nice walk every day. Although we have a fairly large backyard for her to run around in, and she likes going out there to bark at the neighbor dogs, she gets crazy when she knows we're taking her for a walk.
How does she know? When I start putting on my sneakers...that means it's walk time!
We normally walk Carmel when the neighborhood is quiet. She does not tolerate other dogs well. So, first thing in the morning, we dress up and take her for a nice blog. I call it blogging because she has to read every note along the way, and leave a few of her own. You know what I mean. Well, during the last couple of weeks the weather has been brutally hot and humid. (another good reason to go out before 8 a.m.) I have NOT been able to accompany Tom and Carmel on their walk. My allergies were so bad, I'd get halfway down the street and need to turn around and come home, to the air-conditioning.
Tom says Carmel was not pleased with this turn of events. On every walk he took without me, Carmel would stop, turn and stare at the house, and proceed rather reluctantly. Today, with the weather on a break, I went with them and Carmel was tres happy.
It's nice to be wanted. Isn't it?
