I was reading over Dr. Larry's post from yesterday and I had to chime in. He and I are going to do some audio spots over the next few weeks, and this will be one topic, but I'll give you a head's up before we post those spots.
I had to get my two cents in...because of a tragedy here in Rochester, and I hope no one out there ever has to endure the pain of knowing you left a loved one in a hot car for too long.
My message today is for those of us who SEE a pet left in a hot car and what to do. Call 911!
That's right. In the kind of hot weather we're experiencing, you cannot take chances. You don't know how long that animal has been in that hot vechicle - so don't take chances. The 911 operator will get the police to you and the pet can be rescued.
Sometimes we think we're only going into the store for a loap of bread, or a gallon of milk, and then... we see someone we know and time passes by. Meanwhile, Rover or Fido or FiFi are out in the car panting from the heat, unlike this happy pup from a spot on the Purina website.
Don't do it yourself. If you see a dog or cat left in a hot car on the street or in a parking lot, Call 911. Please!
