Pet Resolutions

IFrustratedcarmiesmugwabbyt's here...the end of 2007! Wow was it ever long in coming.

I'm excited about 2008. Carmel's lick granuloma is all healed and she can be trusted to be without her sock for longer periods of time, now. Wabby Wibby is her usual Jabba the Hut self... although very vocal at 3 a.m. these days. I feel blessed knowing my little ones are healthy and happy.

So, I was thinking... what would they resolve, if they could resolve, for 2008? Here's what I think they would say, if they spoke English:

CARMEL: "I resolve to get my people to walk me more often. Once a day is not enough! I also resolve to follow Yvonne around everywhere she goes, even to the bathroom - oh wait, I already do that! Instead, I resolve to wake Tom up at 5 a.m. when I need to go out, so Yvonne can sleep in. Additionally, I resolve to eating more of the cat's food. She deserves to have it eaten, she leaves it in her dish all day long! I mean, what's up with that? If the humans give you food...you should eat it!"

Wabby Wibby: "I resolve to continue being a cat. What else is there? Honestly, if humans could merely accept the divine presence of cats, the world would be a happier place. There is one thing I can resolve without question and that is to make sure these humans do not adopt any new pets, especially dogs. The dog that lives here is okay - she understands her place - but a new dog, or horror of horrors! a puppy, would just be too much to bear. And any additional cats would also be a bad idea. I'm the cat, I rule... kittens (like the ones I heard Yvonne talking about last week, after her trip to Petco) would be far too rambunctious for my tastes. My last resolution would be to find a way to keep that dog out of my closet where my food is. One of these days when I go in for a snack and the dish is empty, I'm going to give that dog what for!"

And there you have it. Naturally, Wabby's resolutions are longer than Carmel's. Carmel is happy go-lucky, mostly. Wabby is happy as long as no one disturbs her place on the couch.

As for me, I resolve to give them both more love and affection. (and...think about a new kitten - but don't tell Wabby or Tom). Happy New Year, everyone!

I read that!

Actually, those kittens were kind of cute. I really think bringing them home would freak out our "little" Jabba the Cat, though. So my vote would be to wait.

That makes it 3-1 against (assuming Jabba and Carmel get a vote) ... which obviously leaves it up to Yvonne! :-)

I may have an opinion, but I'm not stupid!
