This article in our local paper, "Pet-pampering business is hot, but for how long?" got me wondering about the way we folks in the U.S. are into the pet pampering business.
The article is about a company called, "Fido's Canine Boutique" in Pittsford, NY. It says, "Pet owners have gone nearly as gonzo for pet treats as their furry friends so. Between 2000 and 2006, spending in the United States on the pet industry, from food to vet bills, climbed 64 percent to $37.6 billion, according to analysis by California-based Dillon Media LLC." (I'd link to the story but our local paper is woefully inadequate when it comes to posting stories online; oh well)
So, some good folks here, Peter LePore and Lisa Kilcourse opened the above named pet boutique (for dogs... don't see one for cats, maybe there's an opportunity there). I haven't been to the boutique but the article says business is booming. Mostly little dogs, though. I did see a similar story on TV (maybe the NBC Sunday morning show?) where a similar boutique did all sizes and separated the biguns from the little'uns. (wonder if they serve Hydro Water?)
So, I hope...if you're traveling this Easter, away from home, and couldn't take your furry friend, that you found a good pet place to kennel him or her. A place where there is NO EASTER CANDY! And maybe consider this Talking Bone... so your puppy or kitty can listen to you tell them how much you miss them.
Remember: NO CHOCOLATE for the furry ones!
Now, enjoy your holiday. Happy Easter.

Just wanted to let all dog and cat owners know of a new website I found several weeks ago. The site is called, http://www.frescopet.com . This site offers fragrant tags for your pet. I purchased several for my chocolate lab, Hershey. She has a pleasant coconut scent. Check out the site. ....;)
