I don't usually get to watch daytime television. Too busy working (blogging is working - no, really)... but yesterday, Friday - May 2nd - I decided to take off early (relative term "take off" since I work from home and presently, my office is in the master bedroom, also called 'the boardroom') to kick back and turn on the TV.
Montel is my first choice because he's on Channel 8 and I almost exclusively watch Channel 8 (I have a crush on Scott Hetsko, but don't tell anyone). I don't know what that says about me, but there you have it. I'm loyal. Or, just too lazy to click the button on the remote. Whatever.
Well, Montel has become...somewhat boring. So, I switched to Oprah. Oprah has become even more boring. So, I turned on Ellen. I know a few people who always watch Ellen but somehow, I never got tuned into her...but on Friday, WOW! I'm SSSOOOooo glad I switched channels and watched Ellen. Not only was I entertained ( we all know Ellen is a BIG dog lover), I got to be introduced to a group of fabulous guys who call themselves Rescue Ink.
Rescue Ink "was formed to aid in battling animal abuse and neglect," so says their website. The guys are... not your typical rescue folk. They're tattooed, muscle-bound, sunglass-wearing tuffies... that you don't want knocking on your door!
These guys do not look like anyone you'd want to tussle with, in a back alley or on your front porch. There's Bastso, Johnny'O, Mike Tattoo, Big Ant, and George...and each one of them will wilt your cactus...with a glance, if they discover you're abusing animals.
So they told the audience on Ellen, "We're definitely not the welcoming committee." And that's an understatement! They have "an in your face approach," Mike Tattoo said. "We go where nobody else will go," George said (maybe it was Big Ant, my notes aren't perfect. Sorry). They visit schools to educate kids on animal abuse, and their motto is, "Abuse n' lose!"
Ellen offered this comment, which I really liked, "Abuse to an animal is just an excuse to abuse." Wow.
