Did everyone watch The Incredible Dog Challenge on TV yesterday? Wow! I have to say the show is as good (or better) than the Olympics! Hey, why don't we let dogs compete in the Olympics?
Ok, we're not the people to decide on whether or not dogs should be allowed in the Olympics...or are we? Purina's Incredible Dog Challenge certainly qualifies as sport. How could anyone argue otherwise? These dogs are super-dogs. They're so terrific, not just for their ability to accomplish the great feats of agility, strength and endurance in these dog challenge shows, but for the obvious enjoyment they get out of it!
Dogs love being with their pet parents. They love engaging in any activity with their pet parents. What's better than competing in Olympic-like trials of agility and sport?
As I watched, and cheered, and laughed, yesterday - I couldn't help notice the total love showing on each dog's face, as her owner ran the obstacle course with her, or tossed that Frisbee into the air, or shouted encouragement to get her to leap far enough into the pool to set a record. This was just as much fun and delight for the dogs as it was for the owners. In its 11th year, according to this site, the dog challenge "is condiered one of the premiere canine sporting events in the world."
Don't get me wrong, I'm very fond of the Olympics. Mostly the Summer Olympics, but I have great respect for the athletes. They train hard, they are clearly dedicated, and their passion for achievement cannot be doubted! They all rise to the occasion, with their own little cheering section (Mom, Dad, coach, friends and even competitors, sometimes) up in the bleachers...shouting and waving their hands.
What's different about what they do, compared to what these dogs, do? Hmmm? What?
Meanwhile, until we get our dogs into the Olympics, we have the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge. It's fantastic! Watch this video and I dare you to disagree:

I have been to a dog show once. All the women brought their dogs in these awesome soft dog crates. They seriously are revolutionizing the way pets travel! Love. http://bossdogproducts.com/Dog-Kennels

As the companion of a dog who can't catch to save himself, I'm amazed by these dogs.
What I really love is that I know how much time the people have spent with their dogs to help them do these amazing things.
I'd love to have a place in New York City to do agility with Benny Bix Ochman Labradoodle. I know he'd love it! Is that something Purina would ever think of sponsoring here?
