Myositis Myositis is a general term for inflammation of the muscles. Many such conditions are considered likely to be caused by autoimmune conditions, rather than directly due to infection (although autoimmune conditions can be activated or exacerbated by infections).

I've been asking my DH to pick one up forever and since we were out and
about yesterday we got one! Wow, Miss Pua will sit there literally for
hours letting me brush her. She loves the thing and it's great at getting
out her loose hair. She's a big shedder. Tyrone likes it, too, but for
about 5 minutes. Miss Chloe could care less. She's not a big cuddler or
snuggler anyway.

BUT, Pua? I watched an entire 2.5 hour long movie while brushing her last
night. That brush was literally full, and I mean *full* of hair. She looks
thinner. LOL.

Here's to a successful purchase!

<>The views on the trail were out of this world. The ride ened with a swim with the horses which was quite the experience. This was interesting. I feel sorry for that poor dog, hope she feels better! +|

My Australian Shepherd is 11.5 yrs old and has suddenly developed jaw pain and an inability to open his mouth in order to pick up his toys/ balls. He has been tested for MMM with a muscle biopsy that was inconclusive and his Xrays showed no particular problem. I have to wonder if he fits the profile for this disease? Can this happen at his advanced age? I don't want him on prednisone if it is not absolutely necessary.

Hi I just read your post on your dog Tyrone. We have a Bichon Frise. We were told today that she has Masticatory Muscle Myositis, but instead of not being able to open mouth, Brie (our dog) can not shut her mouth, The vet put her on Prednisone 20mg 2/day. She is also a seizer dog and is on keppra and pheon. Our little bundle of joy is only 5 yrs. old. And we'll do anything for her, I just hope that this too will pass, since it seems like it came on overnight. Hope your dog Tyrone will get better soon, stay in touch. gentry_deb@yahoo.com
