Everyone knows the 101 Dalmatians story. I remember it from long ago - it was always one of my favorite cartoons and even the Glenn Close version wasn't half bad.
Well, this may come as a surprise to you, but Purina® Dog Chow® is sponsoring The 101 Dalmatians Musical, traveling the country as we speak! I was so flabbergasted to hear about this - it knocked me off my chair! That one of my very favorite stories about dogs was now a muscial...complete with - wait for it -- yep, you got it, complete with REAL dogs! had me shaking my head in amazement.
I can direct you to the website for more information on the show, the story of The 101 Dalmatians, and information on the trainers of the dogs (shelter dogs, did I mention that?), and where to get tickets (the show is in Dallas now, headed for Boston, next) but for here, now, on this blog, I will be sharing the bios of the great dogs appearing in the show.
To start, I'm choosing Bella, because Bella is a favorite name to my daughter, Maggie (one of her cat's is named Bella, and she tried to convince my son to name Carmie, Bella...which didn't work, obviously).
Anyway, Bella is 2 years old. She's from the Wayne County Humane Society, Fairfield, Illinois. The story is that she was abandoned at a veterinary clinic in Indiana. Her owner could not afford to feed her. <sigh> It was soon discovered that Bella had the worst case of heartworms the veterinarian called in to treat her had ever seen! But, she's gone through initial treatment and is doing great.
The folks at the musical try to keep her quiet (on vet's orders) but she's a bundle of energy and she loves people. If you were around Bella, you'd never know she was ever sick!
A great story with a happy ending! Long live Bella!
(stay tuned for more bios - I have lots to share! and check the website out - go to this show and come back to tell us about it; it's not coming near CO, unfortunately, so I won't get to see it! can you hear me wailing?)
