Dog Days of Summer at Hilton Santa Fe Golf Resort and Spa at Buffalo Thunder
Resort plays host to evacuees’ pets and plans summer promotional campaign to benefit the Santa Fe and Espanola Animal Shelters.
SANTA FE, NM – (July 11, 2011) – Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino is proud to be a pet-friendly resort. June 27 through July 3 they welcomed refugee pets and their owners evacuated from Los Alamos due to the Los Conchos Fire. Buffalo Thunder hosted over 70 animals displaced by the fire. These included dogs, cats, birds and the more unusual, such as snakes, iguanas, and even a pot-bellied pig.
Traveling Jack, the Resort’s spokes-dog, has announced the “Dog Days of Summer” program kick off
and will continue to provide media coverage throughout the summer. The Dog Days of Summer program is designed to celebrate the Resort’s pet-friendly status and to provide funding for the Santa Fe and Espanola Animal Shelters. Since the fire, Buffalo Thunder has redoubled its efforts in this regard, in an effort to provide even more funding for the Shelters since those organizations have seen so much additional need because of the fires that continue to damage the area. Donation mechanisms include:
- Outright donations via the “Throw Them a Bone” program, which accepts donations for the Shelters.
- Percentage of all proceeds from the “Jack’s Lamb Chop Special” at the resort’s signature restaurant, Red Sage.
- Special welcome biscuits for dogs at the hotel registration desk.
- Photos of Travelin’ Jack enjoying the resort’s amenities are being used as promotional materials around the Hotel.
- A celebratory “Yappy Hour” on August 12. All ages will be welcome at this event. Children can decorate “pupcakes” and dogs will be pampered with “pawdicures.”
