My friend, Maida Genser, who lives in FL, is a proud supporter of Citizens for Pets In Condos. That's an organization working to allow people who live in condos to have pets.
In their latest newsletter, which I receive, they write about a condo association "in the Tampa Bay area reversed course after a 10 News TV story detailed a woman's fight to keep her large dog there. She has incurable cancer and her doctors say the dog helps her fight depression. Click here to see the video."
The opening story in the newsletter is about Nick Santino. If you don't know about Nick, here's his story, and a sad one it is - maybe even, criminal. Well, that's just my thought:
"All My Children" actor Nick Santino committed suicide last month after his dog Rocco was euthanized. "Today I betrayed my best friend and put down my best friend," Santino wrote in a suicide note, according to a close friend. .. Rocco trusted me and I failed him. He didn't deserve this."
Santino's neighbor said the actor had been "harassed" by building management about his dog. He was allegedly threatened with a $250 fine for having a barking dog. "The dog was not a barker, but somebody complained about a barking dog," another neighbor told US Weekly. Read more here and here."
I'm blown away by Maida and her organization. They're doing all the right things and they need our help. Little Olive says, "No pets in condos? How can that be? I'm no trouble!"
Citizens for Pets in Condos need us to know about them, share their information, support them when we can, and help spread the word that pets are more than furry creatures we feed and walk and scratch behind the ears. Pets are conducive to a healthy life. Pets bring us cheer. Pets give us love. I could go on, couldn't you?
This little blog was mentioned in their most recent newsletter, and it gave me the nudge to write about them once again. I've done so in the past and probably will do so in the future. I can't imagine a life without pets. If we ever had to sell our home and move to an apartment, condo, or townhouse, I would never leave my pets behind. If I couldn't find one that would take my pets...all of them...I'd...live in my car or something.
Share this organization with your network. I'm sure there are other areas, outside of FL, that need to know this exists and need to learn how to have one where they are. If you are part of a similar org, write and tell us about yours. I'll share.
Thanks for reading. Happy Saturday Blog Hop! Great place to meet new pet people! (I tried to grab the pet blog hop badge but it wouldn't display! not sure why... UPDATE - I figured it out...see badge on left! Yay!)

The condos information is totally innovative. I am sure it will probably help large number of people to clear their doubts. Nice work, please keep it up

I can't believe any living space is still so clueless as to not allow pets. It's not good for their business and it's not fair to the residents.

I have never heard of pets not being permitted in a condo until this blog post. I am frankly shocked.
I live in an apartment/condo complex (some people rent and some own) and we are permitted to have two pets. (Same with those that are in apartments)
My father used to live in a 55 and over condo community in Boca Raton and he had a Boxer.
I have never heard of anything like that, glad there is an organization to fight such a ridiculous rule
