I do! I do! I love animals.
And if YOU love animals, too, check out this great news which was posted on the Animal Farm Foundation page on Facebook. Great news! If we could just get every state and every community to adopt this, it would do so much for stray dogs and cats.
Today, it is good to be a pet in Massachusetts! Governor Deval Patrick signed a bill that is all kinds of good for animals and even says "NO CITY OR TOWN SHALL REGULATE DOGS IN A MANNER THAT IS SPECIFIC TO BREED"! The bill also updates Massachusetts' antiquated animal control laws, creates oversight of and requires training for animal control officers in the state, and strengthens dangerous dog laws without targeting specific breeds. The legislation also standardizes holding times for stray dogs, prohibits the use of gas chambers for euthanizing dogs and cats, and creates a spay/neuter program, funded by a voluntary tax check off, that is designed to reduce the number of homeless animals in Massachusetts. Additionally, the bill allows for the inclusion of pets in domestic violence protection orders, to the benefit of both the victim and their animal companions. Hey, Boston...did you get the memo??
It's also where I got the graphic below... which I just had to share. Enjoy! Visit the Animal Farm Foundation site, too!
