Yesterday we were so fortunate to bring a new member into our house. Her name is Molly. She's a long-haired, 8 year old kitty who comes from a wonderful home (with dogs), locally. Her former Mom, Rosemarie, was devastated to give her up but her allergies have just become too difficult to deal with and the Dr insisted she find a new home for Molly.
Molly is sweet and soft and so beautiful, I can't wait to show full pictures of her. Right now, she's still a bit shy. She meowed softly for a few minutes on the trip home, and then relaxed in the new carrier (Pandora's old carrier all cleaned out and with a pillow of Molly's in it). Once home, we allowed the dogs to "see" her, and then carried her to the family room, where Tom's office is.
We put up a gate to keep her safe (not from danger, but from exploring dog noses that were eager to check her out)... and opened the case. She came out slowly, explored a bit, meowed a bit, and decided she liked it under the futon - which happens to be Olive and Emily's favorite resting place.
We'll share more news on her as the days go on. She's very friendly when we reach under the futon to pet her (I want her to come out on her own... I don't want to push it)... and this morning, she did come out for a minute. In fact, we allowed Emily and Olive downstairs and they had a sniff-fest, then... Emily figured out where the cat was... and spent quite awhile with her head under the futon, watching Molly.
And vice-versa. Molly seemed very interested in Emily. They were nose-to-nose at one point!
Here are the initial pics of meeting our girl and bringing her home...
