The basement has officially been initiated by the dogs. We don't know which dogs... or, if it was all three. We only know we came down this morning to...chaos. The garbage was tipped over and strewn about (mostly papers - no real 'garbage'), the paper towels which had been in the garbage were chewed to shreds, the rugs were littered with ... other papers (who knows where they get this stuff!)... and, someone...we're pretty sure it was just SOMEONE not someones... peed on the floor.
Be thankful for small things, I say. We're glad they peed on the floor, not the rug.
Yet, why? Why and when? They were sound asleep up in our room at midnight when we turned the light off. We could hear Olive snoring. Did you hear her? She could wake the dead with that snore! LOL I sometimes have to go give her a nudge, reposition her a bit, to quiet her down. Anyway, she was snoring, Chester was curled up all cozy and Emily was twitching in a dream.
So... when did they get up, sneak out, and come make a mess in the new basement offices? When I got up, I noticed there were not furry bodies in beds, in our room. Once in the kitchen, I could see they were each curled up in their beds in the living room - Chester by the window, Emily on the 'dog's' loveseat (don't ask... they do consider that piece of furniture theirs, don'tchaknow) and Olive, in the new dog bed behind the loveseat.
All so quiet and cute. All so precious and innocent. No one stirred as Tom and I moved about the kitchen.
And then... we came downstairs. To our office. To the mess... little mess, I'll give them that... but, mess it was.
We will never know which one peed... if anyone out there is working on a chemical strip that will allow you to identify individual pet's pee, I would like to know about it, thank you. Our dogs pee indoors more than they should. We don't want to punish them... we want to know which one so we can be more alert to what they or don't do outdoors, on that last, "C'mon kiddies, out you go," at 10 pm.
Know what I mean? Jeesh.

This post is rather funny! I hope you find the peeing culprit! Are these pets new to the household? They may be just be trying to get used to their new home. It's a possibility.
