If you've ever lived through the teen years with a 'kid', you know the time from being old enough to drive and actually driving can be rough! "I wish I could drive!" "Why can't I drive?" "I bet I'd be a good driver!" is the common lament, over and over and over and over, until the darned kid finally gets her license. And, all the while, you, as parent, pray to high heaven he or she was listening when you taught the rules of the road.
Imagine if dogs could drive! Bwahahaaa... just the thought sends me into wild laughter. Would they be as whiney and annoying, leading up to that all important day of getting their license? Fur sure! Hey, click here for a laugh!
Take Emily, our sight hound, for instance.
Wow... driving would give her challenges she couldn't imagine! And, rewards! She is always head's up with her eyes on the prize... for instance, any other person or dog or cat or rabbit, off in the distance. Strangely enough, she doesn't do birds. We have hundreds of geese around her and none of the dogs pay the geese any mind.
Well, what I'm leading up to is this - Subaru has a FUN FUN FUN (did I say fun???) app on their Facebook page that puts your dog in the driver's seat. And, Emily was the first of our clan to get a license! Oh my dog! Watch out world! I can just see her stealing off in the car with Olive and Chester. It will go something like this:
Emily, eyes darting around, voice low,"Hey, Chester, Olive, c'mon, let's go for a drive. We'll find better stuff to chase and sniff...than Mom and Dad find for us. C'mon...get up!"
"But," Chester will say, giving her his best mournful stare, "I'm comfortable. And, I don't chase things. I only sniff them - I actually like the sniffies I find on our walks."
"I'll go, I'll go, I'll go," Olive will be saying, as she dances around Emily, all excited because she knows if Emily wants to do it, it will be fun!
No, I don't know how they'll get the keys or open the car door or fasten their seatbelt. But, they will. They're dang smart dogs!
Problem at our end is - we only have one car! How the heck am I gonna go after'em if they take the car and go on a joy ride! OMD!
Hop over to Subaru's Facebook page and check out that app. It's so much fun! There's lots more to it, and I'm not telling you what else...so you gotta go yourself. (p.s. if you make a license for your dog - don't put your 'real' address on it - be smart, make one up... really, make one up - I did!)
While you're on the Subaru page, visit Ask the Expert... I learned a lot by chatting with Sasha (like... ball, ball, ball... squirrel - you know - she's a dog.)
Dog tested. Dog approved (tm) ... ain't it the truth!

When we are driving in a car we become quite careful and more careful when we have a kid with us. But just imagine if we allow our dogs to drive the car. Really it sounds quite interesting. Now-a-days dogs are given training particular to drive a car. The thing we need to do is to just provide some kind of hopes to the dog if he does the work then he will provided by food.

I saw an article recently which was talking about teaching dogs to drive in New Zealand, didn't think they'd go this far though!

We will not be putting the terrier behind the wheel - talk about an accident waiting to happen :-)
