Sad Mom, today. Had to leave the furkids behind to go on a business trip back East. All by myself.
Mind you, I'm not a fun traveler to begin with (traveling and I don't get along; I'm quite content to stay home in my little house...all the time, except when walking the dogs), but this trip is especially wearing for some reason. I think I'll pick up some energy today - the weather is perking up. Looks like a decent day. The kind of day I'm used to having back home. Oh, I'm in Philly today - and I'd love to just come to Philly and 'visit'... instead of always ' work'...but, that's for another day.
Anyway, the furkids are keeping Tom hopping. Yesterday, he lost Emily. That was scary to see in an email, "I lost Emily." OMD! Did you let her get loose, Tom? You know she's full of adventure - she'll be off to fun parts unknown and maybe try to get back but... what if she gets captured? OMD!
She was lost in the master bedroom. BOL! Got herself in, somehow the door closed behind her, she sat quietly for awhile, I guess...then, barked to be let out. I like that about Emily - she has a specific bark for, "Let me in!" I think it was that kind of bark Tom heard... and he went to the back door to let her in, but she wasn't there. She wasn't in the living room or kitchen... nowhere to be seen.
I can imagine Chester and Olive watching him search frantically...to no avail. I bet Olive even gave a look up to the closed door of the master bedroom...she would do that. But, poor Tom was baffled. Until Emily gave another bark...and it was clear - she'd locked herself in the master bedroom. BOL!
No doubt she was as excited to get out as Tom was to let her out. Great story, yes?
Ah, if I'd been there...I would have gotten pictures!

Thank goodness he found her!! I have an idea of just how you had to have felt.
I am not a great traveler either, "traveling and I don't get along" (I hear ya!!)
I am content to stay home as well.
Soon you will be home with the babies and Tom can finally relax!
Safe travels!

I actually heard her bark from my office in the basement and went upstairs to back patio doors on the main floor 2 or 3 times, but no Emily. She does that often enough, playing with me, I guess.
Now, I can imagine her in our bedroom another level up, giving her "let me in bark" and hearing me come up the basement stairs, sitting quiet, but all a-wiggle like a good girl. And then wondering why I didn't open the door?
When I finally went up again and got a little annoyed to find no Emily, again, I went outside to get her from the side of the house and ... no Emily! That's when I got a little worried and started looking everywhere in the house for her, except our bedroom. Because the door was closed, so she couldn't be in there ... until she barked again.
Happy ending for silly Tom!
