Now that spring is here... it's time to rejoice! Hit the back yard! Throw the ball! Chase the squirrels!
Ok... our dogs don't do the ball thing. They just look at us like, "You threw that really well. Now what do you want to do?"
"Go, go get it!" we'll say.
"Me?" Emily and Chester will both say at once. "You want ME to get the ball? Why did you throw it away if you wanted it?" With those confused looks in their eyes...
And squirrels...well, we don't have many squirrels. I've seen red ones around and an occasional gray one, just not in our neighborhood. Emily used to like to stalk rabbits...oh, she would get very intense...but not so much now. Somehow, the joy has gone out of that and she just gives them a glance. Once or twice on a walk she'll mosey on over to poke her nose at a rabbit, but she doesn't drop into her stalking stance. And the rabbits know it... they just flick their ears at us and go on munching breakfast.
We're glad it's spring, nonetheless. This will make early morning walks more pleasant. It will make afternoon walks sunnier and more fun. Might see more folks and other dogs, out and about. Oh our puppies do like seeing other dogs, when we walk. Emily has her favorites - ones that make her tail go wild. And, her not-so-favorites, who set her off to barking. We can't figure out what the difference is.
Chester just likes all dogs. And people. He's a "let me sniff you all over" kinda guy. Luckily, most of our people understand and allow him that privilege.
Olive...she does whatever the other dogs do. She's just happy to roll in the grass.
Oh...I hear Emily calling. It's time for today's walk.
Happy spring! I'm looking forward to the balloons again, too. See below...
