Spoiler alert:I am not an animal expert. With that out of the way, let me ramble. I have often thought that by some measures humans are more intelligent than dogs, but by others(for example, sharpness of instincts) dogs are superior.Since humans created dogs to serve us, it's our responsibilty to assure they do so in positive ways.Nazi concentration camp commandants using dogs to maul prisoners to death and dogfights for the purpose of "entertainment" are examples of our irresponsible misuse and abuse of "man's best friend."
To the degree I understand it and however much it may be valid, the Alpha theory as a training mechanism has never appealed to me.I have no interest in dominating my dog; I'd rather get his cooperation out of some mutual understanding that makes us both happy.
